The course

Focusing on adult ESOL learning, this SQA-accredited Level 6 qualification is an introduction to teaching ESOL. It provides practical, flexible and accessible ESOL tutor training. This qualification builds your knowledge of the English language and teaches the skills needed to apply this knowledge when tutoring ESOL learners. We also include discussion of teaching in the Glasgow context.

A brief outline of course content

The course comprises two units which will be delivered in person, in our offices. The first unit aims to provide context and the background knowledge required to teach ESOL in the community; to a basic level. This unit is assessed through project work and an exam. The second unit develops practical knowledge of teaching and includes a live teaching element, where you will be assessed on planning and reflection of your lessons. You will be guided and supported throughout.
