The Glasgow ESOL Forum is a membership organisation of teachers, tutors and volunteers providing English language tuition to speakers of other languages. We are a company limited by guarantee with charitable status.
Our main activities include delivering regular professional development workshops on teaching ESOL and running two externally funded projects: The Workplace ESOL Project and the Volunteer Tutor Project. The Workplace ESOL Project delivers vocationally specific ESOL courses to non-native English speakers who live and work in Glasgow. The Volunteer Tutor Project supports volunteers and community based organisations involved in teaching English to refugees, asylum seekers and members of BME communities. We have also developed a Professional Development Award in Teaching Adult ESOL Literacies which is now delivered at several colleges in Scotland.
Community based and voluntary organisations which provide ESOL classes or other forms of help with English to refugees and asylum seekers can be supported by our volunteer tutors. You can find out more about the project and available support in the Volunteer Tutor project section.
Volunteer Tutor Project Update
Please note that our waiting lists for volunteers and referrals are currently at full capacity and we hope to take on new volunteers and referrals once we have secured further funding.
We will update this website as soon as we know more about the outcomes of our funding bids for the Volunteer Tutor Project. |
